This picture is on the front page of the Cameron Pilot. This is a very soft section of the beach and it is unfortunate that it is rutted up, but this is the beach, not the dunes. The waves are very obvious on the right and the dune is very obvious on the left. It is illegal to drive on the dunes, it is not illegal to drive on the beach. I contacted the Cameron Pilot to see if they will run a correction.

An amendment regarding Temporary Food Service trucks has been proposed. The amendment will be discussed, and presumably voted on, at the March 10 Police Jury Meeting. If passed as proposed, Food Trucks will be able to operate at Rutherford Beach on behalf of nonprofit organizations (e.g., RRGI)

The Cameron Parish Police Jury recently created this very nice poster for the Courthouse re-dedication. RRGI has asked about having a couple of signs made to put at the beach.

Speaking of traditions, I emailed the Lake Charles Yacht Club (thank you in October to see if they would be interested in hosting sailboat races at Rutherford Beach. The request was discussed by the Board and made it into their February newsletter. I will let them know that this year is probably not a good year to restart the tradition due to the breakwater construction. However, the seed has been planted and I will stay in touch with them.
